June 2014Vol. 15, No. 6NRCOI Literature Review
In order to help child welfare professionals find the most up-to-date and relevant information, the National Resource Center for Organizational Improvement (NRCOI) conducts quarterly literature reviews to identify and summarize resources related to child welfare organizational improvement. NRCOI reviews scholarly articles, reports, book reviews, and other resources to identify studies that aim to explore general concepts in topic areas such as continuous quality improvement, implementation, interagency collaboration, leadership, and more. Selected articles are then summarized in a chart that includes brief descriptions of the key concepts and methods as well as synopses of research findings.
NRCOI's most recent review, Literature Review: 10/01/2013–12/31/2013, examines 14 articles and 1 report that address a range of topics, such as implementation, strategic planning, supervision, and systemic change. A number of articles touch on how the culture of child welfare agencies can impact programming and services. The review includes a list of resources related to organizational improvement extracted from Child Welfare Information Gateway subscription services.
