VetoViolence, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's violence prevention website, is offering an online training course for educators and professionals who work to improve the health and well-being of teens. The course, Dating Matters: Understanding Teen Dating Violence Prevention, explores the definition of teen dating violence and ways mentors can prevent it through communication with teens. Course highlights include:
- What is teen dating violence? Including statistics, examples, and consequences of violence
- Risk and protective factors for teen dating violence, including early warning signs and factors that may increase a teen's risk for dating violence
- Making healthy relationship choices, including characteristics of healthy and unhealthy teen relationships and educators' role in teaching about healthy relationships
The course also features interviews with experts, interactive exercises, engaging video storytelling, and a resource center with additional information and tools.
