The National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments offers a training package that aims to help school and district administrators and staff develop a framework for implementing trauma-informed practices within theirs schools.
The training package includes a variety of training materials and resources, including the following:
- An implementation guide that summarizes the goals of the training, describes its components, and provides guidance on how and when to use the training
- A course on understanding trauma and its impact that includes resources for all school staff about the prevalence of trauma, its impact on children and youth, and implications for schools
- A course about building trauma-sensitive schools that introduces school staff to the concept of this type of school, why it is important to adopt a trauma-sensitive approach, and trauma-sensitive practices for use in the classroom and schoolwide
- A course on leading trauma-sensitive schools intended for school leaders that introduces a framework and process for adopting a trauma-sensitive approach schoolwide, including guidance for how to roll out other package components
The training also features online modules, interactive e-resources, downloadable handouts, and more.
