The coronavirus, or COVID 19, can put additional pressures on families as the nation and the world experience a loss of employment, shortages of necessities, and overall fear and anxiety. To address these issues, Dr. Melissa Merrick, president and CEO of Prevent Child Abuse America, released a video emphasizing the need to continue to support vulnerable families during this time of increased stress in order to prevent instances of child maltreatment.
Prevent Child Abuse America's website provides resources for parents, children, communities, schools, and businesses and employers aimed at mitigating fear and anxiety. It offers age-appropriate resources for children on maintaining proper hygiene, population-level strategies to prevent the spread of COVID-19, resources for schools on how to address distance learning, ways to minimize exposure to COVID-19 in the workplace, and more.
The Prevent Child Abuse America webpage on coronavirus resources will be updated regularly as new information becomes available.
