The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now offers the Principles of Prevention (POP) online training for individuals interested in learning about violence prevention, the impact violence has on the community, and effective prevention efforts. This free, interactive course presents the key concepts of primary prevention, the public health approach, and the social-ecological model and focuses on the prevention of five types of violence:
- Child abuse and neglect
- Intimate partner violence
- Sexual violence
- Suicide
- Youth violence
Users need approximately 75 to 90 minutes to complete the POP training, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Continuing Education Credits and a Certification of Completion are available.
