The Creating a Family podcast series provides practical tips, guidance from experts, and stories of lived experience to support and strengthen adoptive, foster, and kinship families. Episodes span a variety of child welfare and parenting topics, such as the impact of trauma and resilience on child development; adopting older youth, sibling groups, a child with special needs, or a child from another state or country; transracial adoption and fostering; financial assistance for families; and more. As the holidays can be a challenging time for many children, families may find it particularly helpful to listen to the episode “The Holidays With Adopted, Foster, or Kinship Kids Who’ve Been Exposed to Trauma.”

Weekly episodes range from 30 to 60 minutes, and Weekend Wisdom segments run a shorter 10 minutes or less. The series is hosted by Dawn Davenport, executive director of Creating a Family and expert in adoption, fostering, and infertility.
