On Tuesday, September 12, the National Child Welfare Workforce Institute (NCWWI) and the Children’s Bureau will cohost a 1-hour virtual Child Welfare Worker Recognition Event to celebrate the professionals who work to ensure the well-being of families involved with the child welfare system. This event is part of Child Welfare Worker Appreciation Week, September 11 to September 15, 2023. On Thursday, September 21, the Children’s Bureau’s Capacity Building Center for States will host the 2023 Child Welfare Virtual Expo (CWVE). The theme of this year’s CWVE is "Recruit, Retain, and Support: Strategies for Strengthening the Child Welfare Workforce." The 1-day virtual event brings together professionals from federal, state, tribal, and local organizations across the country and experts with lived experience, young people, families, and other partners to discuss how child welfare agencies are addressing today’s child welfare workforce challenges and the innovations they are implementing to recruit, retain, and support a diverse child welfare workforce and create an equitable workplace.
