The final issue in a four-part series in the National Clearinghouse on Families and Youth (NCFY) newsletter, The Exchange, focuses on improving self-sufficiency for homeless and runaway youth. Previous issues focused on achieving and enhancing well-being, permanent connections, and safety for this at-risk population.
The first article in the latest issue features responses from NCFY experts who were asked about the leading concerns or issues professionals face when trying to help a youth become self-reliant. Another article highlights strategies youth can use to turn their street survival skills into job skills desired by employers. Finally, preparing homeless youth for college and the importance of building relationships between social service providers and universities was also explored.
